It's Five O'Clock Somewhere

We made it out east and adverted all potential problems at the airport. With the new restrictions through airport security with liquids, there is no way anyone could forget something in their bag, this includes lipstick, chapstick, water, nailpolish and even powder blush. Stacey was ticked-off when the lady at the ticket check-in made her put her blush in her suitcase. They were friendly about it so there were no disruptions.
The plain was fast, about 500kph, I'm kidding, this trip only took 3.5hrs, we slept for the first two hours, watched tv for one hour and then gocked out the window for the approch to Toronto airport. We landed, got our bags and golf clubs, walked outside and Stacey's Mom, Maureen and Shelby, Staceys sister just pulled up. We jumped in the Buick and off to were all roads meet, Walkerton.
I was palying slowpitch for the weekend and are first game was at 7:00. Last year the team was compiled of a bunch of scrubs, but we had the most fun. This year we had the potential to win the "B" division, we won the first game, since it was single elimination we lost our our second game on Saturday and we hit the beer gardens. Walkerton has a great setup, all diamonds have lights, so it was pretty awesome to play under the lights, DJ was on top of his game. Slow pitch is different out here, no co'ed, guys againest guys and girls againest girls and the pitching is 8-20. most pitchers are around the twenty mark, I found it hard to get a good hit off, so it was grounders for me for the weekend.
Saturday night brought the social, it was a rip roarin' time. They had an 11 person band, full three peice saxiphone set and shit load of guitars. So we pounded rums and B.S.'ed for the rest of night. After the beer gardens, we were walking to the "Big Show". One of Stacey's best friends has a tradition of showing her boobs at the end of the night, and it was my time to be a part of the show. I was happy. I have heard sooo many stories of this event. I think I was walking so fast that I almost left everyone behind. We got to a street lamp in the park and she turns around and tells everyone to stop. Mind you there was only three of us, it's not like she just whips the suckers out in the middle of a crowd, there are only a select few that get to see this. So up comes the shirt and she reaches in the bra and wham-o there it was, perfection. Ballzy and I give a big high-five and cheer like little school boys that just won their first game of kickball. Then came the second one, it was a repeat of the celebration before. After the "Big Show" we headed back to the Schmidt's for a late night burger and talked like a bunch of idiots. Dean and I had awesome T-shirts to wear to bed, Dean had a giraffe shirt and he was roaring like a giraffe. (Giraffe Vocalization
Types of vocalizations that have been reported:
Alarm snort
Bleating or mewing by calves
"Roaring bellow" by females looking for their young
Also moaning, snoring, hissing, and flutelike sounds. )
I had a "Speak Slowly I'm a natural Blonde" shirt. It was a funny end to the night.
Sunday we watch ball, it was all the finals on Sunday. Stacey's good guy friends were in the final, the other team had one good inning and took home the cup. Too bad guys maybe next year.
Monday was spent at the beach and watched Stacey play baseball with her old team. Tuesday we golf at the Walkerton GC and then that evening I was back at the course to play men's night with with Zeek, Ballzy and Pete. Then I hit the hay at 11:00 for some well deserved rest.
I'll let you know further activities throughout the week, sorry no spellcheck for this one. I hope it makes sence.

Back on top!!!

The Band Aids were victorious once again. This week we had a great showing, 12 players in total.
I will point-form the game for all you viewers.
- I started off with a jack to left field, Charlie browned the sucker!
- Couple of great plays by the defense to keep the other team off the score board
- Stacey used her free hand to block the ball, nice work
- Gackles double play in the last inning
- I got into an argument with the other team captain, I was right, he was wrong, what else needs to be said? nothing!
- Gukes' quick plays to get a couple of outs on third base
- Travs homerun, the fastest I think I have seen anyone move around the bases. Those short legs really know how to move! haha
- Thanks to Rob for showing up, he struck out three times!!! kidding, he didn't show at all, hope everything is OK

This win boosted us back into first place in the league. Can't wait for the final toureny in Sept.

Thanks for reading internet, I will do a better job in the posts to follow.

One, Two, Bar-B-Que

Were do I start? How can I sum this last two weeks up in a short post? Why so many questions? I guess I am asking the wrong guy.
I will start two weeks ago on Saturday July 29, 2006. This day was full of events, one, it was my Dads birffday and two, my cousin Heather got married to Scott A. Stacey, Matt and I took of Friday night to Sylvan Lake to spend the night at my parents house to get a good night sleep cause we were off to the Fort in the morning for the wedding. The drive lasted a quick two hours and we were at the hotel checking in at the local Super 8. Nice place, we had a suite so there was plenty of room for the five of us.
The wedding was at two o'clock just a few blocks from the hotel. I was excited to get to the church and see all my cousins on my Moms side of the family. Sure enough all the yahoos were there with their duds on, except Brett, he was sporting a ripped up t-shirt and sandal's, classy guy hey? haha I'm kidding you looked OK, haha. The service was great, Scott once again could not control his ability to make everyone laugh. When all the groomsmen came into the church and it was his turn, he looked at everyone and ran back into the room they came from, everyone cracked up and this set the mood for the rest of the wedding. They did their vows and ended it all with a rather long make out session, ada go you two, congrates!
Once the wedding was over we needed to get a bite to eat, so went over to Safeways and bought a sandwich. This little trip even ended up being a fiasco as well. In the store Matt and Dad went on to make a scene at the deli department. Matt was being loud and making a stink that there were not any knifes in the knife container just forks for the deli food. So Dad started to rummage around as if he was looking for a penny in the bottom of a full change jar. Matt continued to become louder and started to draw attention to himself, to say the least he sure got a laugh out of it.
Off to the hotel for a couple of drinks. There we hung out in my Grampa's room and sucked back a few bevies. After a couple I had to settle down. The buzz I achieved was a little too much at 3:30 in the afternoon. So I just had a couple of "soft" rums. Once we got to the hall, the bar was open, this scared me a little, I wanted to have a long night with all the cousins and keep the party going till it was all over.
Dinner was awesome, probably the best wedding dinner any of us have had. They did a great job on preparation and serving of all the food. Next came the speech's. This last a little while. They did have an open mic that anyone could go up. So Brett and I decided to go up and say a little sumpin, sumpin. I went on to tell a joke and got a huge applause for it. When Bretsky went up, not to lie, he had a tuff act to follow, he simply welcomed Scott to our family, got a round of applause and sat down to acknowledge my speaking abilities to large crowds, sorry buddy maybe you should go first next time. LOL.
Next was the garter toss, my favorite part of the wedding. I was set on getting it. Ol'Scottie faked us out a couple of times when he was about to throw it. On the third fake I knew he was going to toss it so I went for my move. As I saw the groom raise the garter to be tossed, I made my way to the front of the crowd and prepared myself to pounce on the prize. I took two steps toward and BANG!!! This guy hit me like the WaterBoy in the NCAA Div 1 finals. I ended up entaggled in some chairs and tables, hit my neck and head pretty good, I got up, shook out the cobb webs and retreated to my table to tend to my wounds. This little shenanigan created some sparks with the guests. I have no idea why I was picked to be layed out, there were no reasons and no explanation from this @sshole, he just picked the guy with the yellow shirt and bodychecked me. Through some investigation, we found out that he is a real life @sshole, so I guess he will continue to try and make a name for himself besides @sshole, good luck @sshole.
The rest of the night was great, dancing, talking, BSing and bring up old memories. The morning came fast and we were off by 9:00, back to Sylvan so my parents could get on with their vacation they had planned.
Matt took off with my parents for the week, so Stacey and I had the whole house to ourselves. It was very quite with not having Matches around, I guess we missed him.

I talked about ball in the previous post.

This last weekend, August Long, was full of ups and a couple of downs.
Stacey and took off from Calgary around 2:00 on Friday and head out to the Nakusp area in BC, just two hours south of Revelstoke. We hit up McD's for dinner at six and got a call from Curtis, (We were meeting our friends Curtis and Jill out at Jills Dads cabin in the Nakusp area) he had called to inform us that they had to wait for the ferry that crossed Arrow Lake, about an hour from the cabin. This did not effect our strategy for the weekend. We thought, "Who cares if we have to wait two hours, we will have some daylight left once we get there". Upon approaching the ferry ride a few cars were driving from the direction of the dock, my quote was, "Geez, looks like these guys are just getting off the ferry, maybe we will make the next one?" We came around a corner and all you could see was a line up!! This was a little disheartening. So we put the Buick in park and sat down for our short two hour wait. This did not happen, we ended up waiting for four and half hours, so Stacey and I watched Memoirs of a Geisha and a bunch of Friends episodes. By the time we wanted to pull the pin we were told we should be the on the next ferry by some guy with a lot of hair and his name was Bruce and he was looking for a ride to Nakusp, yaaa no. So we did a little pray and did make it on the last ferry of the night with two cars behind us to spare.
We arrived at the cabin around 12:30/1:00, had a beer and hit the hay. Saturday morning we were off to the golf course, I took nine bucks from Curtis and shot a 79, I was a good day of golf. Take a look at Stacey's webpage for pics. For the rest of the day we ripped around on ATV's, went boating and had some drinks. We BBQ'ed a couple of chickens for dinner and ended the night off with a game of Pictunary (spelling?), Stacey and I won! hehe I think we are too competitive sometimes, haha.
Sunday morning we had a big breakfast and filled the day with more watersking and beer. The ladies made Beef-ka-bobs for dinner and ending the day with drinks around the camp fire with stories about the past. It was a great day and a sunburn to prove it.
Monday we packed up and headed out back to Cow-town. Instead of risking the four hour wait at the ferry, Roger, Jeff's brother, took us on a different ferry and a back route through old logging roads. This was a little scary at times, soft shoulders to a 1000 foot drop made the trip interesting, we got through in about 1.5 hrs and we were on our way home. It was a nice drive home with great weather. We got home around nine and hit the hay soon after that.

Thanks for the invite Curtis & Jill, we will come back in the future.

We still got it!, Even with 8 players!

Last night the Band Aids had a little bit of a scare. Going into the game we had exactly 10 players, 7 guys, 3 girls. Ten minutes before the game we a couple of unfortunate cancellations that took our numbers down to 5 guys and 3 girls. Let me tell you, it is tuff to play with only eight players on the field and not the ten that you are allowed. With eight, the pitcher would have to throw the ball, walk to homeplate, pick up the ball and walk/trot back to the mound. This could make the game a little long, thus not finishing. The team we were playing graciously lent us a player to backcatch. The only stipulation is that they would not be at home plate to make any plays, our pitcher would have to make all plays. That was OK with us, we were just happy they said yes to our request, thank you Talisman team you are all good sports, in the beginning.
With eight players showing up, you could tell the team was a little timid, especially when the other team was so pumped to play us. (We are first in the league, they are third) So they extend the conversation by saying they have brought their best players with lots of extras incase anything happened to the star players and they said they couldn't wait to beat us. At this time it seemed they had the upper hand from the get go. This comment fired up the Band Aids. First inning, the Titans scored 5 runs, we scored one. Second Inning, they scored 3 we scored 2. Things were not looking good at this point. But things took a turn for the best for us!
After a couple innings of stellar defense from, Stacey, Trav,Wendy, Cred, Ben, Melanie, Rob and myself. We held the Titans to only scoring three more runs for the remainder of game. The Band Aids started grinding harder than Paris Hilton at speed dating night. We were on that bats with nothing but singles and doubles with very aggressive base running from Trav. It came to the bottom of the sixth, we are at bat and down 11-8. Talk about clutch, we ended hitting in 5 runs bringing the game 13-11 for the Band Aids with one more bat for the Titans. They did score one run, but with Robs valiant effort to track down a screamer the left field, the only thing left was the sounds of the tear drops hitting the ground. I was very proud of the team, with eight players, we beat a team that was stacked with $400 bats with a bunch of monsters that looked like they ate people the size of Cred for breakfast. (those are little guys, hehe) Good job on a game well played, physically and mentally.
A shout out to Stacey on her great game at first base and the text book defense that was displayed and to Cred for game well pitched once again, those guys had a hard time handling the Ol'Knuckler.
Weekend update is on the way, too much to talk about.
Enjoy the Long Weekend all!!!
