We still got it!, Even with 8 players!
Last night the Band Aids had a little bit of a scare. Going into the game we had exactly 10 players, 7 guys, 3 girls. Ten minutes before the game we a couple of unfortunate cancellations that took our numbers down to 5 guys and 3 girls. Let me tell you, it is tuff to play with only eight players on the field and not the ten that you are allowed. With eight, the pitcher would have to throw the ball, walk to homeplate, pick up the ball and walk/trot back to the mound. This could make the game a little long, thus not finishing. The team we were playing graciously lent us a player to backcatch. The only stipulation is that they would not be at home plate to make any plays, our pitcher would have to make all plays. That was OK with us, we were just happy they said yes to our request, thank you Talisman team you are all good sports, in the beginning.
With eight players showing up, you could tell the team was a little timid, especially when the other team was so pumped to play us. (We are first in the league, they are third) So they extend the conversation by saying they have brought their best players with lots of extras incase anything happened to the star players and they said they couldn't wait to beat us. At this time it seemed they had the upper hand from the get go. This comment fired up the Band Aids. First inning, the Titans scored 5 runs, we scored one. Second Inning, they scored 3 we scored 2. Things were not looking good at this point. But things took a turn for the best for us!
After a couple innings of stellar defense from, Stacey, Trav,Wendy, Cred, Ben, Melanie, Rob and myself. We held the Titans to only scoring three more runs for the remainder of game. The Band Aids started grinding harder than Paris Hilton at speed dating night. We were on that bats with nothing but singles and doubles with very aggressive base running from Trav. It came to the bottom of the sixth, we are at bat and down 11-8. Talk about clutch, we ended hitting in 5 runs bringing the game 13-11 for the Band Aids with one more bat for the Titans. They did score one run, but with Robs valiant effort to track down a screamer the left field, the only thing left was the sounds of the tear drops hitting the ground. I was very proud of the team, with eight players, we beat a team that was stacked with $400 bats with a bunch of monsters that looked like they ate people the size of Cred for breakfast. (those are little guys, hehe) Good job on a game well played, physically and mentally.
A shout out to Stacey on her great game at first base and the text book defense that was displayed and to Cred for game well pitched once again, those guys had a hard time handling the Ol'Knuckler.
Weekend update is on the way, too much to talk about.
Enjoy the Long Weekend all!!!

I love reading your ball updates...
Look forward to it every Thursday.
I loved tossing them the ole K-nuckler...they hated it.
