Oooooo..... Wine can hurt
In my last post title I said I wouldn't have anything to write about, well I drummed up some topics out of the Ol' think tank.First- Thank the lord that Tie Domi has retired. It is about time that thick skulled, all talk no show nikumpoop has hung up the skates. His last few years have been quite embarrassing being know throughout the league as more a "dressing room player" than a "player on the ice". Always talking, telling guys to drop their gloves in the "New NHL", come on Tie, if you were to fight today’s tuff guy you would be mopped all over the ice. Lets end this paragraph on Tie, it's starting to bug me.Second - How about them Oilers, best team in the NHL. Ya they lost Pronger, Peca and Spacek but the best is still to come. Peca is old, Spacek is old and yes it's a shame Pronger had to leave but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. I have a feeling he is going to get seriously injured this year. Just a feeling. On the other hand, Oilers are bringing in the top rookie d-man and top OHL goal getter, Robbie Schremp. I hope Schremp doesn't pull a Comrie and sleep with a teammates wife or something, he is going to be good, so I hope we can hold on to him. The speed of the team has increased full tilt, most teams are going to be in for a huge surprise the first time they play my boys. Good Luck Oil, may the force be with you!!Third - CFL and the TD celebrations. If you have not heard of the kafuffle that the Stamps are brewin' up in Calgary, then let me advise you. A week ago the media started to ask the players about celebrations on the field. They are not just happening after a TD but also after 1st downs, big catches, big runs, big hits, big stops, big punts, big mistakes and yes big dumps in the dressing room. One quote I read was, J. Copeland, "If the media is going to blow this up and turn the CFL into the NFL (No Fun League) then we are just going to do it more and make the celebrations bigger!" Ya, a lot of brains in that head. Why don't you keep poking the bear and this rule will be put in effect and that will end your silly little antics. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing better than seeing a well choreographed dance after a sweet throw or a punt return, but when the receiver gets knocked out of bounds at the 4 yard line and the next player kneels down and pretends to take pictures of him posing. That is too much and makes you look like a chump, as we all know four yards is a long way to go to get a TD in three downs. This kind of display is too much for a second rate football player. Lets put this into perspective. If I land a new deal, I don't rip my shirt off and belly flop the fax machine. If Crosby scores a goal, him and Flurry don't meet a centre ice and throw each other into a triple sow cow and when Tawnya Harding takes out her best competition she doesn't go on a 10 yr drinking binge, sleeping with numerous men that do not know who she is and separate from her husband, well maybe the last one does happen. But my point is, that if they want to celebrate, do it in good fashion with some class, a quick new shuffle or a good old fashion chest bump. This concludes my thoughts for the day, I hope I made this fun and enjoyable to read. Please feel free comment if I am completely out of line, but be careful. Hahaha
