Summer is Over and that's the way it goes Rick!
It's been a while since my last post so I will try and keep this short with as much detail as possible.
Last time I was here I talked about the trip Stacey and I took back to her home town of Walkerton. The trip ended with a Blue Jays game. We had the best seats I have ever had a baseball game. We were directly behind the Jays dugout, six rows up. Stacey and her sister Shelby got on the jumbotron and I had a quick showing as well. The Jays lost the game but they play 162 in a season so it's bound to happen.
We got back to Calgary on the Sunday and Matt picked us up. He had some news for us, Matt landed a job up in Athabasca as a car salesmen on a Ford lot. So the best of luck to him.
This last weekend we had a garage sale at our house. We picked through all the junk in the basement and got rid of a bunch of things and made a couple of hundred bucks off the stuff. I'm glad that is over with.
The sale of the day was, if anyone out there remembers the short white shorts that I brought out to houseboating the first year I was there. They were part of my 70's party get-up. First thing Saturday morning a guy (approx 35 yrs of age) was eyeing them up, he held them up to his hips, kinda turned his waste, looked at the wife for the OK, she gave him the knod and he popped the question. "How much for these?" my reply, "One Buck!" his counter offer, "Will you take 50 cents?" I followed up with a genuine, "You got yourself a new par of shorts!" he routed through his pockets for the 50 cents and he was as happy as a chubby fella with a fresh Hygard right off the truck. Ring the bell for another sale!
This last week I was involved in a hockey tournament that my company puts on annually. I had a ruff go all week. First game I took a high stick across the nose, a little blood and maybe a chip somewhere in there, second game a guy dished out a mean two handed slash in my back, now I had a sore back and half broken nose. Fourth game a guy took a shot and deflected straight up and hit me directly in the throat, I couldn't breath for about a minute and I am still having trouble yawning and swallowing. I'm sure I will be OK. One of the last shifts of mine I was on defense and another shot got deflected straight for the middle of my face, I ducked my forehead and my helmet took the scrape, I guess it is time to get a visor for the brain bucket.
This brings us to this weekend. We have our final slowpitch tourney and Millars party. Can't wait to update those two events.
Have a great weekend all!
Till next time
