Three Times A Champ!

Just got back from the 25th Annual Company Hockey Tournament and the results are A+. The South Team and myself defeated the Central Team 7 - 2. What a game!. My line took it to them with four goals and solid defencive play throughout the entire game. We had great control, kept our heads in the game and the nerves cool.

Game one- South 8, Central 2, it did get a little heated, like I was saying in my last post, the guys tend to freak out and all hell breaks loose. I' not saying I was an angel out there, my bonehead move was.... The puck was sitting in front of our goaling, I got knocked over. At this time I was trying to push the puck into our goalies pads with the front of my shin pad..an opponent was staying above me and proceeded to try and push my head to ice. The whistle blows and I see his skates in front of me, so I gave him a good WHACK! on the tops of his laces. (If you have not experienced this, it hurts like a son-of-a-bitch!) So I look up and he punches me right in the nose, tears started but I deserved it, I think I came out victorious in that battle, it may have even woak me up a little.

Game two- South Lots, North not much (I forget the score right now, update coming)
Edmonton was definitely our biggest competition this weekend, our team played a good game and lit the goalie up big time. My line pocketed three goals in one shift. The drama in this game started early in the third when or guy, we'll call him........Shithead....kidding, ran the goalie on a meaningless play. This caused a hole lot of, after the whistle pushing, hacking, only one punch and a four penalties. We were up so much, Edmonton took matters into their our hands and started to go nuts on us, nothing too major to report, but every whistle sparked the fans attention. Good times
Final- South 7, Central 2 Stick in the chin, hit two posts, and a guy on my line put in a hat-trick.

The rest of this Sunday is going to be spent on the couch, watching America's Funnest Home Videos.

Have a great week, catch ya later!

I'm back...but not for long!... Well, I hope not.

I saw that Spud did an update, so I'm going to do one so he can't rip on me too much.
Where do I start???
Wedding date is set!!!! December 10, 2007 at 3:00 pm. We are off to the Dominican Republic to have a tropical wedding and a holiday with our family and friends. This event is going to change the nation, lots of wonderful people are coming and what better way to spend that time... then basking in the sun and splashing about in the ocean! hehe
My Monday Men's Curling team finished first in the "B" division. We started as a bunch of unknown rookies and blossomed into actual curlers. Last night we lost in the second round of playoffs that ended the year. Ya, everyone is going to ask why we didn't win. My answer to that is "picks". I think we had six rocks that picked on us and they we pretty important shots. But that's the game of curling and that's the way the cookie crumbles. We did end up winning jackets and our names on a trophy for next year and that all gets awarded to us at the year-end get together.
The house is great, can't wait for summer to get here and spend some time camping and attended family reunions. O yes, also the turkey deep-frying season. I have a couple of big events planned, better known as "Deep Fry Frenzies". So I'll have to brew up some ideas in the weeks to come.
I started a new position at work last week. I am now an Underwriting Manager, basically I obtain a bunch of info on a business loan and I put it all together for an approval. It will definitely give me the experience I need to make my next step in the bank. Speaking of work, this weekend is the annual bank hockey tournament and usually turns out to be a good time. Last few the years got pretty heated on the ice. Almost a couple of fights and lots of pushing after the whistle.
Today I did get my first email read on the air on the Mike Richard Show, The Fan 960 (http://www.fan960.com/station_info/jock_bios.jsp ). That was pretty cool, hopefully more to come, now that I know what he likes.
Not a whole bunch more to report, I'll keep this a little more up-to-date.

Enjoy the city street cleaners,
JP

Wow, it's been a loooong time.

I have been getting some bad reviews on my blog, due to my lack off dedication to my blog. My apologize to whom rely on this informative site to get through their day-to-day actives. hehe.
Any who, I don't know where to start.
Christmas was great, Jake flew into Calgary on the 20th and he stayed a couple of nights at our house before took off to my parents house to start celebrating the holidays. Celebrating involves heavy drink and stuffing your gullet to an unimaginable pain.
Stacey went back to her home town for the holidays, it sucks being apart at this time of year but we will have many in the future to have together. She flew out on the 22nd and returned on the 30th.
The Christmas holiday was very relaxing, it was nice to just hang out with my parents and brothers and socialize all day. This year we stuck around my parents house and didn't really leave the house for anything, besides to rent movies and pick up some limes for rum and cokes.

I had to work the 29th, we all headed down to my house for Jakes birthday and a big meal. Jake flew out of Calgary on the morning of the 29 and I was off to work for the day.
The Saturday, 30th, Shelby, Stacey's sister flew into Cow-town early with her boyfriend Dean. (Dean is a real beauty, we had a lot of fun drinking wine and Red Rage, ooooyaaa) I picked them up and we were off to the mountains to ski Nakiska skill hill. Hill was in good condition, a little icy in parts but overall a great time.
That evening Stacey flew back home and all of us went and picked her up. Shelby and I made a sign that said " T-Rex", we were damn funny!!! Stacey got a kick out of it! Reason we did this, Stacey came up with the idea to put "Fossil" on a sign when we picked Jake up the week prior. A bunch of comedians!!
For the rest of the week that Dean and Shelby were down, our R-tinerary was filled with events and showings for the remainder of the week. I could go on for hours telling you about the funny shit we did, but call me and I can fill you in.

For News Years, we helped arrange a "Famous Persons" party at a local community hall. It was a great time, great costumes and lots of laughs. We hired a band, "Jesus and His Disciples" Let me tell ya, these guys could rock the show. They never did tell us their names, but that's what made it sooo exciting, it could have been Elvis and the Unknown band U2. ???? Well maybe not.
(the band was, Gukes on guitar, Matt on Bass, Dean on the drums and me on guitar and vocals) (The only bad things is that know one could hear us... But we could hear, and that's what counts!! haha)

We took Dean and Shelby back to the airport on the 6th at 6:00am. The fact Dean and I stayed up till 3:3o guzzling wine, didn't help anything.......at all. They ended up getting home safe, we sure missed them the next couple of days, the house was so empty!

Any way, that is all I have for now, I will try, and I mean try to keep this a little more updated, Spud you can keep bashing me cause it gives me the motivation to know you are still reading this.

Take a step back into time with me....

Let me take you back a couple of weeks ago...close your eyes, relax and enjoy the writings. Well don't close your eyes because you won't be able to read this then...

Any who.. I'll start on Oct 27, Stacey and I headed out that evening to Las Vegas. We took a trip down there, just the two of us to see the sites and sounds of the very popular city of Las Vegas. We landed around 9:00 and pick-up our luggage. We needed to get to terminal one to pick up a Las Vegas Survival Kit. If you every get one from a travel agency, It's not worth your time. All it was, is a pen and a bunch of coupons you can pick up from any one of your friendly flyer guys located all over the strip. After we did this we were off the our hotel, The Sahara. Nice place, rooms were clean and the staff were very helpful to our numerous questions throughout the weekend. We got our room and hit the casino to see what all the fuss was about. The first two machines we tried we turned $2 into 47 and $5 into 56. Not too bad considering those were the first two. We tried a bunch of different games, watched people, played penny slots and that was about that, at that time it was about 1:00 am. I had an idea to go up the Stratosphere and take a look at Las Vegas from 85 stories above the ground. My other idea was to then propose to Stacey and ask her hand in marriage. Good thing I had a couple of beers to keep my composure. Upon arriving at the tower, which was right across the street from our hotel, I was faced with a security crossing that had a metal detector. My first thought was I was going to have to pop the question in front of a bunch of strangers. I had the ring in my pocket inside a sunglasses soft case. I left it in the pocket..... As I walk up to the detector, the heart was pounding.. I took my first step, nothing, second step, nothing, I was in the clear, up the elevator we went. We almost walked around the whole structure when I took Stacey by the hand and said, "I need to ask you something"I went down on one knee, gave a little speech, can't really remember it, but I know it was good, and asked her to marry me. It took a couple of Öh my Gods"from Stacey but she said yes. We celebrated for a while and then sat down and watched the lights of Las Vegas. We finally did make our way back to the room and rested up for the long day ahead of us.

Because this will get pretty long if I go into detail, here are some other key highlights of the trip,

1 - Walking the strip, very cool to see how big these hotels actually are. They are friggin huge and you need to see them for yourself.

2- Hover Dam, the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. Very large and powerful, everything weighs a 1000 tonnes it seems.

3- Outlet shopping, found some great deals on shoes this trip.

The last couple of weekends have been full of events. Last weekend we attended the seventh annual Coyote Classic VBall tourney in Med Hat. Our team was... the Gukerts, JR, Justin, Andrews, Regan, Stacey and myself. We were ousted in the semi finals, 15-13 in the third match. It was either our team or the team that beat us that was going to win the tourney and they did. The social that night was a lot fun, we hit up a local bar, had some drinks and acted like fools for most of the night...good times.

This last weekend my mmen'sMonday night curling team won once again. Our record now is 4-1. We played a bunch of willey vets on Monday. They we not too hhappywhen we beat them to say the least. We also had our best game of the year, lots of good shots were made throughout the night. The best quote of the night was when their skip shook my hand and said "You sure know how to make yourself look like you know what you are doing out there". Whata jerk! We sure don't show up to let some old guys kick us around the sheet. So for the rest of you Monday nighters, do your stretches and watch the highlights from the last Tournamentof the Hearts cause we will have alreadydone that! hahahahaha.

This brings us to a closing. Hope everyone out there is doing well and I may see you in the near future.

Closing thoughts

1- We are early in the winter season, just a reminder, don'twalk around like its summer out there, cause you will slip and land on your back. Take your time and walk with wide steps.

2- Try the new self checkouts at Wal-Mart, very easy and you don't have to talk to anyone that really doesn't want to talk to you.

3- Keep fit and have fun. (that's lame I know)

Till next time fellows,

JP

Snow?

Requests flooded in for an update.......so here we go!
Were do I start? Lets start with a glass of wine....POOF There we go!
My last update included the start to the NHL season and the beginning of my curling career. The Oilers are still hard at it and play tonight.
Now on the other hand, lets talk about the hot new men's curling team in the Airdre Monday Night Curling League. The Reynolds rink sits at an astonishing, two wins and zero losses. A combination of great focus and natural talent, Reynolds carries the majority of the team on his shoulders. The other three simply just follow along and try..., try... , try. On a more serious note, we have done pretty well. All of us make good shots and bad shots, one of my throws I went to turn the rock and I pretty much pushed the sucker right into the side boards, not pretty. Yes I am still whinning about the sweeping, it's tuff work!
Other than curling, not a hole heck of a lot has happened. Stacey and I played with the Gukerts in their Wednesday night volleyball league. We had a blast, Stacey and I showed up a little late so it was a couple of farmer stretches and straight on to the court. Gukes was utter dominance throughout the night, Stacey still has the big O'l Cannon out the left side and Melanie is turning into quite the setter let me say. The night went fast as we went two straight in each of the matches, and on our way home with smiles on are faces.
This last weekend I worked for Staceys uncle at the Franchise Show in Calgary. My duty was to sell magazines to people walking through the exhibit. It was a long a day, but fun to talk to the people I may see coming into the bank one day.
Saturday evening I watched hockey all night. Yes, the Oilers won!
Sunday I got to use my new table saw. I constructed a slab of wood into and photo-album type unit for Stacey. She's using for a project she is doing for her boss. ( I will update with a pic)
Now I bring us to the current time, work was fast and busy. I had to call in sick to curling, I think I have some kind of stomach flu or I ate something bad in the last 24hrs, but this is not fun. The good thing is that Oilers are playing the Kaknuckle Heads and should be a battle.
Oh ya, I am last in my hockey pool and I am getting smoked!
Nice to chat but I have to run!

Haaackey Is Back!!!

As most of you know hockey is back and in full stride. My Oilers, AKA the best team in the NHL, gave Calgary their first beating of the year and more to come. Spud I feel for you, so much anticipation over the summer and your team starts like that. I knew from day one they would.
Oilers look really good, lots of passing and hard skating. Even three goals to start the year. Flames on the other hand looked a little groggy and not much jump in their step. What is with Pa-nu-finlander, he ran little Hemsky twice. What a tuff guy, and when Jason Smith comes after him he skates away. In my eyes the flames have the two most over rated players in the NHL. First Dion Panufinlander and Chuck Kobasew. Need I say more.
Oilers, great to see Rolie back in action and stuffing Inggy on the pentaly shot. Hemskey is back to his antics again. Lets not forget about Ryan Smith, crashing the net and sacrificing his body in all ways. Adabe Smyty!!

Some other thoughts:
I joined a mens Monday night curling league this year. JR, Gukes, Bacon and myself are on the team. What a blast, we ended up winning the first regular season game, going into the game we figured we would have our asses handed to us. No the case. Can't wait to get to know what the hell we are doing.
Quotes from the game:
Gukes: The only weight I have is takeout weight, so I want to play in that position
JR: Good take out Gukes
Bacon: Huuu!! (this was said after he push out of the hack, fell and pushed the rock down the ice from is back. It did end up hitting the side boards before the hog line. haha. I was friggin hilarious!)
Jeff: I need to hit the weights, this sweeping is hard on the shoulders!!!!
And it is!!

Other than these most recent events, no too much more to talk about. Thanksgiving this weekend, can't wait to stuff my guts with food all weekend!!! YeeHaa

It was great talking with you, but you are pretty quiet today.
